According to the NBU, to date, the amount of currency from the citizens of Ukraine is estimated at $ 50-70 billion

National Bank of Ukraine for 10 months in 2012 bought out the population of about 2.2 tonnes of gold, while the amount of ransom for the January-June amounted to 1.9 tonnes for the entire 2011 - 1.8 tons, according to the institution.

"As a result of the National Bank of Ukraine measures to increase purchases of precious metals from the public and the legislative solution to the question concerning the abolition of the tax on income of individuals in the sale of scrap precious metals, the National Bank of Ukraine since 2012 bought about 2.2 tons of gold" - informs NBU.

It is worth noting that the National Bank started issuing investment coins made of precious metals that can give people an alternative to hard currency as a store of value.
